Anne Alden is a Washington State-based visual artist working in oil, acrylic, and mixed media. Her practice focuses on light, atmosphere, and expansive landscapes and skyscapes, creating immersive paintings that capture a brief moment in time and space. She enjoys expressing both natural and supernatural imagery.
Anne’s artistic development spans decades, shaped by early training, continued study during her service in the U.S. Navy, and later formal education. She earned a BFA in Visual Communication from Northwest College of Art and Design and maintains a multidisciplinary practice that includes fine art, illustration and design.
Since 2000, she has sustained an independent studio practice, producing an expansive portfolio including commissioned work. She presently is focussing on the rural environment and all of its surprising vistas. She currently lives and works in the remote Okanogan Highlands of Washington.
Artist's Statement
I make paintings primarily using oil paints, sometimes enhanced with other medias, that focus on the luminosity and atmospheric changes of natural and supernatural landscapes. I try to capture moments in time that tell expansive stories within a brief moment.
